In Memory of Ann Tafel

Anne Ferrero Will Tafel, 83, of Louisville, died on January 7, 2003 at Jefferson Place after a long illness. She was a native of San Antonio, TX and graduated from Santa Rosa College with a degree in nursing. Mrs. Tafel was a survivor of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. Immediately after the attack, she was called upon to help with the wounded and dying who had been taken to Hickam Field, where she was living at the time. She moved to Louisville in 1948, immediately after the death of her first husband, Major Joe Orr Will Jr., USAF, who had been a Louisville native. Mrs. Tafel was a founder and former president of the Fillies Club and a member of the Younger Woman's Club and the Women's Club of Louisville. She was an avid tennis player and served on the board of the Kentucky Tennis Patrons. She was also a member of the Bellarmine College Women's Council, the board of Crane House and one of the original board members of the Kentucky Arts and Crafts Foundation.
